board.

version updates
what's changed on paperboard, roughly in order.
v0.9.5ongoing
  • communities are easier to move around now -- added better navigation and styles.
  • search now finds communities too, with its own filter next to profiles and posts.
  • random posts shuffle faster and cleaner. and by faster, we mean roughly 4 times faster!
  • a few rough UI edges got sanded down, including the post delete controls and dark-theme delete button colors.
v0.9ongoing
  • added communities where people can talk about some specific stuff. available at /community.
  • the new /search page now lets you serach through posts and profiles smartly. no more endless scrolling now.
  • /random page now shuffles through posts and picks a random one for you to view. expect the unexpected now.
v0.8ongoing
  • you can delete your own posts now -- open the editor and there’s a "delete" button next to save and cancel, with a confirmation step first so it’s hard to do by accident.
  • edited posts now show when they were last edited, right next to the date and time -- both on the post itself and in your archive list.
v0.7ongoing
  • settings has its own home now at /settings, with quick links to your profile, appearance, and account -- "your account" in the top nav is now just "settings", and /account is reached through there instead of directly.
  • themes: pick espresso, mocha, matcha, chocolate, vanilla, or dark from /settings/themes -- the whole site re-skins instantly and remembers your choice on this device. "custom" (build your own) and "community" (browse ones other people made) are previewed but not open yet.
v0.6ongoing
  • you can now log out of individual devices, or all of them at once, from the new /account page.
  • that page also shows every device currently signed into your account, with when it was last active.
  • you can change your password from /account too, without needing to log out first.
  • the top navigation is cleaner: "paperboard" always takes you home, "your profile" and "your account" only show up when they’re actually relevant to where you are.
  • permalinks on posts now copy a stable link that keeps working even if you change your username later.
  • "print this" downloads a shareable image of the post.
v0.5ongoing
  • added usernames. everyone still has an id under the hood, but your profile now lives at a proper name (like /yourname) instead of a random string.
  • usernames are picked for you from your display name when you sign up, and you can change them any time from your profile.
  • post links are shorter now too.
v0.4ongoing
  • editing your profile happens right on the page now -- click your name, age, or bio to change them in place, instead of visiting a separate editor.
  • links in your sidebar can be added, edited, and removed the same way.
  • editing a post works the same: click the pencil next to the title, change what you need, save.
  • comments now show the commenter’s current name, even if they’ve renamed themselves since they posted.
  • "last online" and comment timestamps now show real, readable times ("5:41", "yesterday", "of 3rd Jun") instead of a raw timestamp.
v0.3ongoing
  • fixed a bug where visiting a specific post could sometimes show the wrong one.
  • fixed new posts and comments occasionally not showing up right after posting them.
  • sessions that go idle now quietly refresh themselves instead of forcing you to log in again.
  • logging in on a third device is now handled more gracefully when your first two are already in use.
v0.1 – 0.2ongoing
  • the first version of paperboard: sign up, write entries, leave comments, and browse other people’s notebooks.
